Hello, I’m Lachlan
I live with my family on a small property in the Lockyer Valley. Our days are shaped by garden soil, changing light, shared meals, children’s laughter and the quiet work of caring for a place. Living this way has changed how I see the world and how I photograph it.
I’m a family photographer documenting parenthood, connection and everyday life on the land. My approach is slow and unposed. I observe. I look for the small gestures, the glances and the rhythm of your family as it naturally unfolds.
These are the photographs that feel like memory.
Based in the Lockyer Valley and photographing families across Ipswich and Brisbane.

My story
My journey with photography began long before our move to the Lockyer Valley. I studied film and photography and spent over a decade working professionally behind the camera, learning how to observe people, anticipate moments and document life as it naturally unfolds. Over time, I realised the work that mattered most to me was not about perfection, but connection.
After meeting Abby, our life shifted toward family, simplicity and presence. We bought our first home in Ipswich and began growing food, raising chickens and ducks and learning the rhythms of a slower life. As Abby followed her path into naturopathy, I found grounding through working with the land. These experiences reshaped not only how we lived, but how I photographed families.
When families step in front of my camera, they are not asked to perform. There is no pressure to pose, smile on cue or keep children still. Instead, I create space for families to be themselves. To move, talk, laugh and simply be together. I focus on quiet connections, small gestures and moments that often go unnoticed, but mean the most years later.
That approach deepened when we moved to the Lockyer Valley. Living on the land taught me patience, timing and trust. It reinforced my belief that the most powerful family photographs come from presence, not direction. From allowing moments to unfold rather than forcing them.
Today I photograph families who want imagery that feels honest, grounded and timeless. Photographs that reflect who they are, not how they were told to stand.
If you are looking for a family photographer in Ipswich or the Lockyer Valley who will guide gently and document your family with care, I would love to work with you.
